Is the Emendation of pānğdahum to pānzdahum Necessary in Hašt Bihišt VI?
Abstract
A curious feature of studies on the Hašt Bihišt, by Idrīs Bidlīsī (1457-1520), over the last years is the barely adequate attention paid by scholars to the Hašt Bihišt as a literary text. Ottoman studies has some works on Hašt Bihišt to its historical credit, but one seeks in vain for a methodical application of the techniques of criticism to a textual problem of Bidlīsī’s Hašt Bihišt. In this short note, I propose a certain reading of an obsolete word for those younger scholars who might be interested in a critical edition of the Book VI.
