A Shiite Turba Found at the Royal Hall of Bidlīs Castle: Transcription and Translation
Keywords:
Shiite, Ottoman, Bidlīs, Kurdish emirateAbstract
The comment addresses the issue of the Shiite identity of the Kurdish emirates of Bidlis. The research is based on a Shiite turba recently discovered in the royal hall of the Bidlis fortress in eastern Anatolia. The present study does not go beyond the context of Shiism in the Emirate of Bidlis. This seemingly disparate case demonstrates that when considering discrete Kurdish orientations to Shiite doctrine, the starting point must be the idea of their enduring similarities.
