Abstract

On December 20, 2024, the Department of Medieval Georgian History and Source Studies of the Ivane Javakhishvili Institute of History and Ethnology at TSU concluded its annual activities with the traditional scientific conference. This year’s conference was dedicated to the 400th anniversary of the martyrdom of Saint Queen Ketevan. Within the framework of the event, Maka Nachkebia presented her book Queen Ketevan in Georgian and European Literature and in 17th–18th Century Historical Sources. As in previous years, most of the participants were research fellows of the institute, although the organizers also invited several speakers from outside. The conference was chaired by Mariam Chkhartishvili, Head of the Department of Medieval Georgian History and Source-Studies. Following the opening remarks, Giorgi Tcheishvili, Director of the Ivane Javakhishvili Institute of History and Ethnology, addressed the participants and the audience. He reviewed the department’s annual activities and wished the attendees fruitful work. Over the years, this scientific forum has increasingly attracted and united scholars and listeners from various academic and educational centers. Their collaboration fosters intergenerational continuity and valuable scholarly dialogue. We hope that this tradition will continue to maintain its importance and present significant research outcomes to a broad audience in the years to come.
